Free Hair Diary

Saturday, 29 October 2011

Hello ladies, hope your all well :)
For some time now I've been meaning to buy myself a diary to document my hair, (tracking what products I use, how my hair responds, that sort of thing).
Then I thought to myself, 'Shereen are you really going to go out and waste your money on something, you will forget about doing?' hmm, so then the idea popped into my head, why not just use Microsoft Word?
I already have it so I'm saving money, plus I'm always on my laptop so I will have no excuse not to fill out my diary every time I do something to my hair.

In the past I can remember being so annoyed with my hair because I never knew what products my hair liked and disliked, so I would just use anything random and hoped for good results.
With this hair diary I hope to learn all the secrets about my hair!

Do any of you ladies have a hair diary/journal?

Top Knot Bun

Wednesday, 26 October 2011

This bun is so cute! I really want to try it, but I don't think my hair is long enough for it to look nice, I may have to add my clip ins. Just thought I'd share this because I know finding nice protective styles is hard.
Hope you enjoy...

Let me know how it turns out, if any of you try it :)

First Day Of New Regimen

Monday, 24 October 2011

Following on from my previous post about my new regimen change. I washed my hair on Sunday and carried out all the steps mentioned in the post. After my overnight pre-poo with olive oil I lightly
de tangled my hair in sections, and de tangled again after rinsing out my deep conditioner on wet dripping hair. After applying my leave ins, I proceeded to air dry using the scarf method (applying a scarf to lay down and flatten your edges) then I put my hair in a bun, (the usual go to style lol).

Today my hair feels very soft, which is a good sign. I wish I did ACV rinses sooner!

I'm currently 15 weeks for those who are interested, and stretching is going well :)

Changing regimen

Saturday, 22 October 2011

Moving back to university has kinda led to a change in my regimen. The main factor for this was having hard water here and the second was time management. I'm going to become more busy with uni work and now I have a job, so I just want to keep everything quick and easy.

My Wash Days are now Wednesday and Sunday.

Wednesday
  • Cowash

Sunday
  • Overnight pre-poo with EVOO
  • Shampoo with ojons + elasta qp creme conditioning shampoo
  • Deep condition - 3 minute deep conditioning hair mask boots botanical (for 30 mins)
  • Final ACV Rinse
  • Leave ins - L'Oreal Elvive full restore 5 conditioning replenish spray + Cantu shea butter leave in

Other

  • 100% Protective styling
  • GHE Most days
  • Moisturising and sealing every night.

At the moment I'm experimenting with the way I in-cooperate protein into my regimen, starting from today I will be using protein in the form as my leave in and my shampoo contains some protein ingredients too. My last regimen involved the use of my growth aid sulphur, but at the moment I'm not really concerned with increasing my rate of growth without a solid regimen that I know works for me.

For those who do apple cider vinegar rinses...
How often do you do acv rinses? Is once a week sufficient? or is it too much?

Can Damaged Ends Really Be Saved?

Sunday, 16 October 2011

(Source HERE)

My hair isn't in the condition I would like it to be, and that's why when I get my next relaxer I want to chop off 2 inches. For some time now I have heard many ladies talking about 'babying their damage' or doing some methods to try reserve the damage, and of course some products I have claim to 'restore damage' etc.
My question to you is, can damaged hair really be saved? I was under the impression that once your hair is damaged the only option is to remove the damage i.e get a trim/cut.
Now of course like many of you, if I can save my damaged ends without cutting them that would be great! show me this brilliant method, but realistically in the end aren't we going to have to cut it off anyway. I just don't see how increasing the amount of times you deep condition your hair or doing whatever, is going to cure your damaged ends.

I would love to know what you ladies think. Am I wrong? Can we save our damaged ends? If you have any tricks/tips feel free to share them :)

My New Goodies!

Wednesday, 5 October 2011

Oh how I have missed blogging!
I recently moved back to university, so I haven't had internet and dare I say it... I got a little lazy with my regimen *shakes head*
But I'm back on my A game now.
So I just wanted to share with you some of my recent hair buys.

Boots were doing a 3 for 2 sale on all hair care, so I thought I'd take advantage of this and pick up some things I've always wanted to try.
L'oreal Elvive Full Restore 5 replenishing spray (£3.79), masque (£5.10),
Boots shower comb (less than £2),
Boots Botanics 3 minute deep conditioning hair mask (£5.10).

For the ladies in the UK, you might have heard the fantastic deal Ojon was doing in conjunction with John Lewis stores. On the 29th September you could trade any old shampoo/conditioner bottle for full size bottles of  Ojon damage reverse restorative conditioner and shampoo. They retail for £20 each! How amazing is that? I cannot wait to try these out.

Have any of you ladies tried these products out? Would love to know what you think of them!
Shereen x
