Relaxer Update - 13 Week Post - Potential Setback?

Friday, 7 September 2012

I relaxed my hair on the 27th as I wanted my hair to be done for my birthday (28th August)

The relaxing process was fairly straight forward, I realised I under processed my hair a little too much the previous time I self-relaxed, as I didn't get the texlaxed texture I was looking for.

To correct this I applied the relaxer to my new growth first for 5 minutes, then applied some relaxer to the parts that were under processed (to make this easier I placed little clips on the parts of my hair which were under processed, this made sure I only put the relaxer to the puts that required it which prevented my from over processing), I let the relaxer sit on my hair for 10 minutes approximately, and proceed to rinse. Once my hair was completely rinsed, I noticed my hair felt thicker which I wasn't expecting, but pleasing nonetheless.

Hmm I'm not too impressed with my ends, and I only have myself to blame.
I haven't been protective styling as much as I should do.
So What Now?
I feel like I need a trim, I'm contemplating doing the trim myself but I don't think I will do a good job, so that will probably end up being more than a dusting if anything.

Kind of annoyed right now, I'm really considering getting a blunt cut, but I have a feeling the sides of my hair grow at a slower rate then the middle part of my hair, so wouldn't my hair end up being slightly U shaped anyway?

  1. Your hair looks great....including the ends. If mine looked like that I wouldn't blunt cut just a trim to maintain it because it looks good in these pics. Congrats!

  2. I don't think your ends look bad at all actually. I can understand not wanting an exaggerated u shape, so maybe just remain at BSL and trim the longest layer until your sides catch up? Either way congrats on reaching your next milestone!

  3. I love how thick your hair looks, you did a great job. I agree with dusting, it's safer than just taking off a lot all at once.

    1. Thank you!
Think I'll get the dusting and try to improve my ends from there.

  4. I don't think you have a set back...seems like you had successful relaxer results and were able to do a corrective as well. In my opinion, your hair looks great! I know what you mean about having great ends. If you don't have any split ends, leave them as is and go back to protective styling as you were. Or you can simply dust your ends...no trimming. Otherwise your hair is beautiful! And I also want to let you know that I nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award! Come by my blog for details and God bless!

  7. I think your hair just grows in a v-shape. Do a search and destroy or dust your ends lightly.
